Accelerating Construction of Chongqing's Modern Industrial System via Manufacturing | Press Conference
Chongqing - Under the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, Chongqing should focus on industrial structure and organization, digital economy, science, and innovation, to build a modern industrial system and enhance corporate competitiveness, according to the second special press conference of the Chongqing delegation.
Chongqing is a nationally important modern manufacturing base with 31 major manufacturing industries. After long-term development, a multi-industrial pattern involving automobiles, electronics, equipment, materials, medicine, and consumer goods has formed.
Laying out the high-growth future industry clusters
According to Lan Qinghua, director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the city should build an advanced manufacturing system with advantageous industries and strategic emerging industries by improving the quality and efficiency of manufacturing, cultivating advanced manufacturing industry clusters, and others.

Chongqing will build two trillion-level industrial clusters of intelligent network-connected new energy vehicles and high-end electronics and 100-billion-level industrial clusters of intelligent equipment, advanced materials, green food, and modern light textiles.
The high-growth future industry clusters should also be laid out, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, life science, technology, satellite Internet, and green low-carbon sectors.
By 2027, Chongqing strives to reach 28% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in value-added industrial output from manufacturing, an annual growth of 11% in the research and development (R&D) investment in industrial enterprises above designated size, and 13% cumulative decrease in energy consumption per unit of added value in industries above fixed size.
